Hi, my name is Eli. I am a student of fine art photography and an aspiring amateur photographer. I first became interested in the medium on a climbing expedition in high school. On that trip, I realized that photography becomes interesting when used to share subjects and experiences that would otherwise be inaccessible to most people—and to share them in ways that are personal and provocative. I quickly became intrigued by methods of abstraction, including manipulation techniques and the use of perspective, and I have incorporated these in my work.
My goal is to produce technically excellent photographs, with an emphasis on the formal aspects of composition. My work has expanded to include a range of subject matter and styles, from the abstract and artistic to the layman and conversational. I have worked primarily in 35mm film, have developed and printed my own photographs, and have taught a few high school darkroom classes. I am also building proficiency with digital photography. Many of my photos were taken in Northern New England where I grew up. But I love to explore and to experiment with my camera. I hope that you will find my photos to be interesting, challenging and enjoyable. I welcome your feedback.
